My Students

I teach students of all ages and abilities and am passionate about helping flutists reach their goals, whether it be learning their first notes or being accepted into top music schools. I have been extremely fortunate to have studied with some of the world's greatest musicians, and I feel a strong sense of duty to pass on the knowledge and love for the craft that they have imparted to me.

With over 14 years of private teaching experience, I have helped students get into the college music programs of their dreams, including pre-college programs at prestigious schools such as the Manhattan School of Music and the Mannes Conservatory.

Lesson Format

Lessons are tailored to meet your individual goals and personal musical interests, whether it's learning your part for your local community ensemble, or preparing for college auditions. I believe in giving my students a strong foundation with flute fundamentals- scales and other finger exercises, tonguing exercises, harmonics and tone studies, etudes and more. With this strong technical foundation, the player is free to focus on artistry and musicality without succumbing to the limitations of their own technique.

Apart from spending our lesson time playing the flute, we can also chat about your longterm musical goals and how to reach them, create an individualized practice plan, or even talk about social media strategies for classical musicians. I am here to help YOU and want you to make the most out of our time together.

Who should take flute lessons?

Maybe you played the flute years ago in middle school band and want to pick it up again, or maybe you've always wanted to learn an instrument and are finally making the time. Maybe you have goals of getting into a top music school. Regardless of your current level of experience, I believe that the most important characteristics a student can possess are the willingness to work hard and the drive to improve (also a good sense of humor always comes in handy!). The relationship between teacher and student should be built on mutual trust and respect. If all of these things can fall into place, great progress is possible!

Online Flute Lessons

The majority of my students take flute lessons online-- all you need is a computer/cellphone/tablet with the most recent version of Zoom or Skype installed and a stable internet connection.

I use a service called Simply Book to schedule lessons. There you will find my current availability as well as rates. The website is easy to use, and payment can be made through PayPal. Lessons are offered in 60, 45, and 30 minute sessions. For the intermediate or advanced student, I recommend 60 or 45 minute sessions, and 30 minutes for the beginner student.
